LETTERS FROM THE PAST

This blog is to honor those who have come before us. These are family letters that I have had for years and wanted to be able to share them with family. It's an interesting way of knowing how life was in the past.

Myron F Taylor with 3 of his buddies in 1952. Over the last 20 years I've been working on our family letters. Letters that have been passed down. Including letters from my parents to my great-grandmother. Every letter was saved by my great grandmother and grandmother. I hope someday to either print them or give them to a museum. I am copying the letters–not being able to photocopy all of them. Each letter is in script. I know today very few can read them. I hope you enjoy them.

WWII Photos Sent Home

Top Left - "Ruseel Taken at Munich, Germany June 18, 1945"

Top Right - Written on the front - Vern, Sling, Liesing, & Mat (believe that's Orville Matheson)

Written on the back - Taken in Calif

Bottom Left - Written on front - Mat (Orville Matheson) Slim, Liesing - Back - taken in Calif

Bottom Right - Written on front - Slim, Mat (Orville Matheson), Liesing, Walsh, Coffey. Back - taken in Calif.

Top photo is unknown. Could be from Orville's training in Calif or while they were fighting in WWII. He was of Patton's 3rd Army.

Bottom Left - "Jeeps and our M51 Taken at the school house NeuAubing, Germany, July 20, 1945"

Bottom Right - Orville Matheson is on the tank - right side.

As much as I would love to have names to these photos, I do not. Not sure where this is or who they are. Not even sure if they are friends of Orville's or his brothers, cousins, or even other family members.

"Jeep and Adkins Taken at the school house at NeuAubing, Germany. July 20 1945"

This was another time and another world. Orville lost his life after he returned home - very short time after. Others lost their lives during the WAR. I pray some of these in the photos were able to make it home.
